Malcolm Washington, born and raised in Los Angeles, grew up in a house full of storytellers and filmmakers. This early exposure to film let to his decision to pursue a Cinema Studies degree from the University of Pennsylvania. It was there where he fell involve with Film Theory as it allowed him to develop an intellectual curiosity which in turn built a consciousness that is at the heart of his work today. After graduating, Malcolm immediately started working in the industry as a camera PA while also writing and directing short films until he was admitted to the American Film Institute as a Directing Fellow. Now, strapped with an MFA in Directing and six projects under his belt, Malcolm is eager to continue to tell personal stories that can engage us but also challenge our own perceptions of the world.
