A longtime advocate for art and independent films, Lisa Bunnell is President of Distribution for Focus Features, overseeing all domestic theatrical release plans and bookings for Focus, and Focus World, titles. Previously, she was for 10 years Vice President of Film for Landmark Theatres, where she programmed the chain’s 261 screens in 26 markets throughout the U.S. The industry veteran, after graduating from F.I.T., worked for over 17 years at Loews Theatres in New York City in the Film Buying Department. Having organized many film series early in her career, Ms. Bunnell has been a speaker at The New School, NYU, Hunter College, and film festivals around the country.
Upcoming domestic releases from Focus include Victoria & Abdul, directed by Stephen Frears and starring Judi Dench as Queen Victoria; Darkest Hour, directed by Joe Wright and starring Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill; the untitled Entebbe project, a gripping political thriller directed by José Padilha and starring Rosamund Pike and Daniel Brühl; Jason Reitman’s new comedy Tully, starring Charlize Theron and written by Diablo Cody; and the untitled new film from Paul Thomas Anderson starring Daniel Day-Lewis.
